Rating System
Each submission will be considered for publication in one of the four tiers of The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy. These tiers vary with regard to quality and generality of interest. Approximately half of all papers are rejected. The publication rates and descriptions follow (note that publication rates represent the percentage of overall submissions that wind up being published in each tier).
Frontiers
The Frontiers tier publishes seminal articles that would be suitable for publication in a top general interest journal. These articles are of general interest to economists and of exceedingly high-quality. The publication rate is less than 1%.
Advances
The Advances tier publishes articles that make major advances in economic analysis and policy; articles that would be suitable for publication in a top field journal, or an excellent general interest journal. These articles are likely to interest all economists in the field (public finance, for example), and some but not all outside the field. The publication rate is 9%.
Contributions
The Contributions tier publishes articles that make important contributions to specific literatures (e.g., predatory pricing). These articles would be suitable for publication in a very good field journal or a highly-regarded general interest journal. These articles are likely to interest many economists in the field as well as those writing in the specific literature. The publication rate is 19%.
Topics
The Topics tier publishes articles that make a valuable contribution and will interest those working on similar topics. These articles would be suitable for good selective journals. The publication rate is 22%.
