Great marketing resource for a new school
Drexel chose SelectedWorks, in part, because the attractive, profession-looking pages were an ideal place to showcase faculty scholarship. Lacking the in-house resources to create such a tool, Drexel uses SelectedWorks as a powerful extension of their existing faculty web pages.
Effective use of library resources
Drexel has had great success in using library resources to finance, build and maintain all SelectedWorks sites for their law school. With the help of bepress, library staff quickly built and populated sites for their faculty (taking advantage of SelectedWorks' full text indexing in Google has proved very advantageous).
Keith Berthrong notes:
"We have been very impressed with the SelectedWorks system, and have received positive feedback from both faculty and staff. Our faculty appreciate the higher visibility of their works in search engines such as Google, and some simply enjoy having easy access to their publications in one place.
The interface makes it easy to make works publicly-available quickly, and both librarians and faculty like the flexibility of allowing personal control of the page as well as the ability to assign editors."
