Health Sciences Libraries to the Rescue: Bolstering the Library’s Role with Repository and Publishing Services

Health sciences libraries are under increasing pressure to support organization-wide goals—an especially daunting feat in the current climate of scarce resources. Some libraries, though, are seizing on this moment as an opportunity, by offering repository and publishing services that benefit the medical school or network at the highest level. Join Anne Linton, Director of George Washington University’s Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library; Daniel Kipnis, Senior Education Services Librarian and Editor of Jefferson Digital Commons at Thomas Jefferson University’s Scott Memorial Library; and Dave Stout of bepress, to learn how repositories can help:
  • Raise the visibility of the medical research being conducted at the institution
  • Providing a publication venue for researchers, students, and physicians
  • Support accreditation and reporting needs with custom exports of publication data
These crucial services, in turn, increase the visibility and relevance of the health science library. Attendees will come away with a concrete sense of how they can identify needs on campus, reach out to various stakeholders, and get support from strategic partners. RSVP here!
