If you’ve been wondering about the many, many notifications about privacy policies in your inbox lately, it’s not just you. Organizations, corporations, governments—bepress among them—are getting ready for new GDPR European laws on data privacy that come into effect on May 25th, 2018.
At bepress we see GDPR as a decidedly positive step forward; it frames the protection of personal data as a fundamental right and advances practices that are vitally important to our community. GDPR ensures rights to consent, rectification, and erasure for personal data and requires that organizations have processes in place which make it easy for individuals to exercise these rights.
In addition to updating policies and procedures, we have been working diligently on our infrastructure and product processes to ensure that the data we collect remains as secure as possible and has been assessed for privacy implications. When GDPR comes into effect on May 25th, you can be assured that you are on a GDPR-compliant platform, without any additional work on your part.
