Guide for Reviewers

Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports is looking for high quality articles that apply rigorous statistical analysis to issues directly related to the field of play. To that end, we ask reviewers to keep the following questions in mind when judging an article:

  • Does the article address an important topic?
  • Is the analysis original?
  • Is the analysis complete?
  • Is previous work on the topic adequately addressed?
  • Is the article accessible to professionals?

A complete review report should include the following parts:

  • A brief statement summarizing the thesis and conclusion of the article
  • The reviewers general thoughts on the article including its importance and relevance
  • Specific issues and recommendations. These should clearly reference the text of the article by page and paragraph number.
  • Recommendation. A brief statement explaining why the reviewer is making their recommendation.

If you have any questions regarding the review process or an article in particular please contact the editor.
