Indexing, Abstracting, and Archiving
Archiving
All bepress journals are archived according to leading industry standards. We are pleased to participate in both Portico and LOCKSS, two respected independent archives of scholarly journals. Portico is a non-profit initiative supported by the Library of Congress, JSTOR, and the Mellon Foundation. The Berkeley Electronic Press was the second publisher to join Portico, and has been followed by Oxford University Press, Elsevier, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and many others. The LOCKSS program is a Stanford University initiative funded by the Mellon Foundation. In addition, the Econometrics Laboratory at UC Berkeley has agreed to provide an open-access archive as a public service for Berkeley Electronic Press journals in the event that publication should cease. We also archive our health & medicine journals with PubMedCentral, the NIH-sponsored permanent open-access archive.
We regularly send these archives the full text and metadata of all the journals we publish. They provide an ongoing, permanent online archive of bepress journals, and migrates content from one file format to another as technology changes and as file formats become obsolete. Even in the event that bepress ceases operations or is unable to deliver articles worldwide, our archiving partners make certain that bepress's entire scholarly journal collection is preserved for future scholars, researchers, and students. We will continue to enhance our archiving and stay up to date with evolving industry standards.
Indexing and Abstracting Services
A growing number of indexing and abstracting services have chosen to include Berkeley Electronic Press journals in their roster of titles. Many bepress journals are currently under consideration by multiple abstracting and indexing services; however, we only add them to the table when we have received notification that indexing has begun.
