This 3 day intensive summer program in Prince Edward Island is for you.

In just three days you will be taken on an intensive and comprehensive tour of Chinese Medicine. Given by a currently active clinician with teaching and research experience, this highly practical tour will include:

  • the rich and long history of Chinese Medicine
  • the basic principles and conceptual frameworks of Chinese Medicine
  • how patients are diagnosed in Chinese Medicine
  • the tools and techniques used by acupuncturists and Chinese herbalists
  • the many different styles of acupuncture and herbal practice
  • a full spectrum of case studies which will bring to life the whole system
  • live demonstrations of Chinese medical assessment of patients
  • a thorough and thought provoking discussion of contemporary issues including research design issues (efficacy, effectiveness, safety and plausibility), the top research priorities from a clinical perspective, training standards, regulatory issues, the challenges of integration with modern biomedicine.

Whether your interests involve Acupuncture or Chinese Herbal Medicine, you will leave this course with a comprehensive understanding of both Chinese Medical principles and modern-day clinical realities upon which to build appropriate research, regulatory, policy, and/or healthcare delivery programs. If you are a physician or pharmacist, you will be in a fully informed position to answer patient questions about Chinese Medicine. You will also leave with a substantial package of handouts, printed materials and articles.

About the Instructor: Daniel Schulman Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM), R.Ac. is a graduate of Boston’s New England School of Acupuncture (NESA). NESA is the oldest accredited Acupuncture school in North America. He is certified with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in the United States. Mr. Schulman is founding Chairperson of Prince Edward Island’s Association of Registered Acupuncturists. He has a busy clinical practice in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He has published numerous journal articles on the challenges facing the acquisition of an evidence base for Chinese Medicine and has a particular commitment to promoting mutual respect and understanding between practitioners of Chinese Medicine, practitioners of Modern Biomedicine and Medical Researchers. Mr. Schulman has extensive experience teaching at post-secondary university and college level. His presentation style and materials are clear, structured and organised.
