Journal of African Economies seek to publish original and
innovative research in economic analysis and policy. For more
information, please see Journal of African
Economies Aims and Scope page.
A submitted article is assigned a single
editor, who oversees the editorial process, and who ultimately
decides whether the submission should be rejected, sent back
for revisions, or accepted. The editorial decision is based on
reviews of the submission by peers. Journal of African
Economies aim to have two reviews of each submission.
If the article is accepted in the Journal of African
Economies, the author will be asked to send a electronic version of the paper in native format such as Microsoft Word, RTF, of Scientific Word (LaTeX). The author will also be required to agree to the
publication agreement.
If the author is invited to revise and resubmit, then whether
and when this is done is up to the author. The author can, at
this stage, withdraw the article if he or she wishes.
Who Can Submit?
Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for
publication in Journal of African Economies provided he or she
owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is
authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the
article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their
works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might
exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed
to transfer copyright to their employer).
General Submission Rules
Any original work in the field of economic analysis and policy
can be submitted (see also the Aims and Scope page for
Journal of African Economies). Submitted articles cannot have
been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival
journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication"
in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication.
In addition, by submitting material to Journal of African
Economies, the author is stipulating that the material is not
currently under review at another journal (electronic or print)
and that he or she will not submit the material to another
journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial
decision process at Journal of African Economies. If you have
concerns about the submission terms for the Journal of African
Economies, please contact the editors.
Formatting Requirements
Journal of African Economies have no general rules about the
formatting of articles upon initial submission. There are,
however, rules governing the formatting of the final
submission. These are communicated to the author upon acceptance.
Your Refereeing Agreement
Following the tradition in peer-review publication, the "price" of having your work reviewed by the Journal of African Economies is the commitment to review at least two manuscripts for the Journal if so requested by the editors. Failure to do so within the assigned time (60 days) will be taken into account by the editors when deciding whether to review or accept your paper. This is to ensure an equitable distribution of refereeing work and to reduce editorial delays.
