Aims & Scope
Issues in Legal Scholarship presents cutting-edge legal and policy research using the format of online peer-reviewed symposia. The journal’s emphasis on interdisciplinary work and legal theory extends to recent symposium topics such as Single-Sex Marriage, The Reformation of American Administrative Law, and Catastrophic Risks. The symposia systematically address emerging issues of great significance, offering ongoing scholarship of interest to a wide range of policy and legal researchers. On-line publication makes it possible for other researchers to find the best and latest quickly, as well as to join in further discussion. Each symposium aims to be a living forum with ongoing publications and commentaries.
Issues in Legal Scholarship is edited by faculty from the UC Berkeley Law School. Individual symposia are sponsored and edited by the Law School’s Research Centers and by guest editors. Recent contributors include scholars from Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, Chicago, and Stanford. The themed symposia and on-line format allow scholars to build a collaborative body of work which continues to invite responses.
The journal welcomes submissions to existing symposia and commentaries to published pieces. The journal also welcomes proposals for new symposia. Symposia can begin by republishing a seminal article in the field, by revisiting a well-known legal opinion or statute, or by discussing an important legal issue. Please contact the editor, Dan Farber, , with symposium suggestions.
