Abstract

The hearsay chapter contains many fresh insights into the law of England and Wales before and after the enactment of the Criminal Justice Act 2003. Issue is taken, however, with some of the authors' views, in particular, with relation to implied assertions and the hearsay rule. Some structural problems are identified. But the highly individual approach to the current law expressed in this Chapter will stimulate debate for a long time to come.
