Abstract

Professor Rosenzweig explains how universities are now trapped in a competitive commercial market, which undermines academic norms and programs. While acknowledging that universities remain vibrant intellectual institutions, he cites growing problems that need to be addressed as these institutions become increasingly embedded in a commercial environment.
