Information

The purpose of the Dupont Summit will be to bring academics, government and society leaders into discussion about the development and direction of the Science & Technology agenda of the new Presidential Administration. The Dupont Summit mirrors the interest of the PSO and its partners in promoting discussion about many of the scientific issues that have become pressing policy problems. Our aim with the Dupont Summit 2009 will be to try to assess the general strategy that the New Administration takes in regards of Science & Technology policy. The PSO and Wiley-Blackwell publish the Review of Policy Research in cooperation with Georgetown University and the Science, Environmental and Technology Section of the American Political Science Association. The journal explores the problems and challenges of a society where science and technology issues have become pressing matters of concern for policy scholars and makers alike. In addition, the PSO and Berkeley Electronic Press publish the Policy and Internet, World Medical and Health Policy and Risk, Hazards and Crisis in Public Policy journals, which will reinforce other science and technology interests of our organization. The Dupont Summit 2009 will include this list of possible themes that may serve as general guidelines: * Technology and Innovation * Information and Telecommunications * Environment and Climate Change * Energy * Health * Biotechnology * Genetics and Stem Cells * Water and Natural Resources * Science Research and Education * National Security * Space We intend the conference to focus around these themes but we would like to encourage comments and suggestions of other ideas for the development of the program.
