Philosophy of The Economists' Voice
The Economists' Voice seeks to publish innovative policy ideas or engaging commentary on the issues of the day. For more information, please see The Economists' Voice Aims and Scope page.
Who Can Submit?
Anyone may submit a Column or Letter. Submissions should either be written by professional economists or others who are versant in economic analysis.
General Submission Rules
Columns should be less than 2000 words, and Letters less than 300. Pieces that are too long will generally be rejected without reading, so please make your submission conform to our length requirements. (See also the Aims and Scope page for The Economists' Voice.)
Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to The Economists' Voice, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at The Economists' Voice. If you have concerns about the submission terms for The Economists' Voice, please contact the editors.
Editorial Decisions
Editorial Decisions will be made as quickly as possible. Your submission may be handled in a matter of days, but because the volume of submissions is large, it may also take weeks or months, depending upon the timeliness of the article, the difficulty of finding a reviewer, and other factors.
Formatting Requirements
Before submission, please put letters and columns in the required format found in The Economists' Voice Style and Manuscript Preparation Guidelines. Prior to publication, we will edit columns extensively, but for initial submissions, the closer to our style they are, the better.
